Equifitness - An exercise guide to becoming a better rider
by Gina Allan
As an athlete, we need to take responsibility to ensure we have good body awareness and posture when we ride so that when we initiate even the slightest movement in our position, we will know and expect our horse’s response. Horses can’t achieve both balance and self-carriage if we are unable to maintain our own self-carriage through proper position; therefore, an understanding of the dynamics of the seat and back is essential.
